Act as a key second line of defense, providing independent oversight and expert judgment on complex credit structures while balancing prudent risk management with business growth.Key Responsibilities & Expertise:• Exercise discretionary credit adjudication authority within established limits, reviewing and approving complex commercial credit submissions in alignment with internal bank policy and regulatory standards.• Serve as a second line of defense, independently assessing credit risk, structure, and policy compliance for new originations, amendments, and annual reviews.• Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks and capital standards, including Basel requirements, internal risk appetite, and enterprise wide governance expectations.• Partner closely with Commercial Banking Centers and frontline teams to provide guidance on policy interpretation, risk mitigation, and sound deal structuring.• Review and challenge financial analysis, risk ratings, covenants, and security structures to ensure transactions are well structured, sustainable, and defensible.• Provide coaching and mentorship to frontline credit teams, enhancing overall credit quality, consistency, and risk awareness across the organization.• Act as a trusted advisor on complex or higher risk transactions, escalations, and exception requests.• Contribute to strong risk culture by identifying emerging risks, policy gaps, and process improvements.• Support transparent, defensible credit decisioning that protects the institution’s balance sheet while enabling responsible client growth.
