ABOUT GREG WOODWARD

I\'m a proven technology executive with over 20 years of software development & management experience. I\'ve led and managed numerous development teams, but am still very hands-on, and spend a significant portion of my time actually coding (and think that this is necessary for effective technical management). I\'ve been the first engineering hire at my past 4 companies, and I\'ve built out the dev team while also building the product. I\'m passionate about Elixir & Phoenix, and agile development methodologies, including extreme programming (XP), scrum, and lean. I developed physics algorithms and simulation code for space shuttle missions back in the late 80\'s and early 90\'s (so does that make me a rocket scientist?) My background is in dynamical simulation (Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford in 1992), so in addition to my programming skills I\'ve got a strong math and physics background. I developed a Java application (I was the sole author) that Steve Jobs used as his grand finale demo in his keynote address at MacWorld, New York City, (see & t=65m25s ). I graduated first in my class at Texas A&M with a 4.0 out of 4.0.I get excited about building the best possible software in the shortest amount of time, and building something that directly addresses & solves real customer needs (and getting a development team excited and on the same page to achieve this); I find agile development techniques are the surest way to accomplish this.Specialties: • Elixir & Phoenix (6 years)• Rails (11 years)• Agile development• Agile project management, including scrum & lean• Extreme programming (XP)• Test-driven development (TDD)• Pair programming• Enterprise Java (over 12 years)• Dynamics including rigid & flexible body dynamics & order(n) algorithms• Controls including linear systems, & digital, classical, & nonlinear controls• Finite elements• Databases/SQL including MySQL & Postgres• Web development
