Staff Bioinformatics Scientist with an education in genetics (Masters at Yale) and self-taught computational expertise accumulated through 15 years of on the job experience (10 years with a next-generation sequencing company). Technical strength in Perl programming with experience in C. Accustomed to development in a Linux environment with standard tools such as emacs, CVS, SVN, GIT, Eclipse, etc. Genetics education combined with my next-generation sequencing and assay development work experience enable me to serve as a liaison between R&D scientists and bioinformaticians. Experienced in stringing together existing software and third party tools into prototypes and in assisting scientists with data analysis and automation. Excellent troubleshooter who enjoys solving puzzles. Track record of performance in collaborative endeavors (such as with RMS and Conexio for HLA, ABL for HIV, and with numerous individual customers).
