Experience
Senior Vice President of Government Affairs
National Apartment Association (Naahq)
Mar 2013 — Present · Arlington, VA, US
As Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the National Apartment Association, I direct all of the advocacy efforts for a federation of 170 affiliated apartment associations around the United States representing members and 7.8 million rental homes. I lead a team of eight professionals to implement a comprehensive strategy of federal, state and local advocacy, political engagement and tactical communications. I counsel NAA leaders and senior staff as well as affiliates and their members on policy and political matters, manage a $2+ million annual budget and represent the Association on Capitol Hill and in front of Executive Branch agencies. The government affairs program as it is now structured was developed following my arrival at NAA in 2010, significantly expanding services for our members and increasing the profile of the apartment industry in the public policy arena. One area where we have demonstrated extraordinary success is contributions to our political action committee, NAAPAC. In five years, annual contributions to NAAPAC have doubled helping us achieve our political objectives, increase our grassroots engagement and strengthen the voice of the apartment industry before elected officials.
