ABOUT GREGORY BARROSO

I am an educator, advocate, and mentor dedicated to shaping the educational journeys of my students. Currently, I serve as an Academic Advisor at the College of the Florida Keys in Key West, where I support students in their educational and professional development. My role involves guiding students through course enrollment, career preparation, and academic success strategies. Additionally, I serve as the central dual enrollment advisor, teach Preparing for Student Success courses, and coordinate student access to our campus food pantry, Tuga Shelves. Alongside my work at the College of the Florida Keys, I am pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Administration at the University of Florida, focusing on administrative leadership and concurrent enrollment.Before returning to Key West, I worked with the University of Virginia\'s Cavalier Marching Band as an Administrative and Events Assistant. Known by various student-conferred names (Grog, Gregor, Goog), I supported student services and managed logistics for numerous events, including NCAA football and basketball games, bowl games, and an international tour to Puerto Rico. I also pursued an M.Ed. in Higher Education at the Curry School of Education during my time at UVA.My career began with a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA, where I developed youth mentor programs in Staunton, VA. I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Stetson University.
