I am a graduate as of May 2021 with a B.S. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. I am currently a Melt & Cast Metallurgist with Nucor Steel Decatur. My role is predominately with the thin slab caster, but I also work with the LMF (Ladle Metallurgy Furnace) and EAF (Electric Arc Furnace).

Also work with the LMF (Ladle Metallurgy Furnace) and EAF (Electric Arc Furnace).Evaluate and disposition steel cleanliness and caster issues to meet customer requirements.Manage and maintain the alloy inventory used in creating heats.Oversee the usage of chem lab equipment including ARL OES 8860 Spectrometers, Bruker S2 Puma Slag Analyzers, LECO 836 O/N Analyzers, and LECO 744 C/S Analyzers.Consistently working on process improvements.Develop and plan chemistry and casting requirements for various grade trials.Assist in internal auditing in preparation for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 audits.
