About Gregory Trautman

My career has always relied on applying analytics to real world businesses. From Private equity on Wall Street to Rock Concerts on the internet, data drives informed decisions. Data is step one but data then has to flow into financial models, visualizations and reports that non tech managers can use to drive daily business decisions. Having an engineering and programming background and operational management experience I often serve as the bridge between technology, financial, legal and operating teams. Many of my projects have been with start-ups. Working in smaller companies requires the ability to wear many hats and provide value across different channels. For example at Qello prior to its recent sale I coded SQL queries for data reports, designed our analytics, created financial models, wrote PPM and Power Points for capital raises, presented to institutional investors, tracked daily KPI for performance, audited our tech performance, created royalty reports and DDEX files for partners, drafted and reviewed contracts for CEO, B2B sales and relationship management and bookkeeping and data entry for the CFO. I have helped numerous companies get Venture capital Funding and in many of those cases I created the Value Proposition, Offering Memorandum (subject to legal review), Presentations and made the institutional pitches. I have been a co founder of 3 companies with successful exits through IPO or sale. I know first hand the process it takes to go from an idea to a start-up to an operating business with 100 employees. I lived through the challenges that arise when you grow to quickly or to slowly, when your running out of cash and on the road raising money for your Series D financing, when partners disagree and when the investment banks are competing to take you public.
