As Executive Director/CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), I oversee a dynamic transportation agency at the forefront of innovation. We are committed to enhancing the community with a safe, reliable transportation system that will be a sound foundation for the next generation. Our agency owns, manages, and operates the Selmon Expressway, Meridian Avenue, Brandon Parkway, and the Selmon Greenway, transporting over expressway commuters and thousands of pedestrians daily. Making a difference in the communities and organizations we serve motivates us. Therefore, we seek to create partnerships that enhance the quality of life for residents, commuters, and visitors. We are paving a roadway for the future.THEA is committed to bringing the best technology and most progressive concepts possible to address transportation challenges. Our agency is 100% funded by toll revenue, and we reinvest 100% of those dollars back into our local Tampa community. THEA processes 58 million toll transactions and serves almost 2 million customers annually, with an investment plan to deliver over $1.2 Billion in capital improvements to the community over the next 10-years. Before THEA, I served as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), overseeing all aspects of Maryland Transportation system including all highways and tolled facilities: a core and commuter bus network, a light rail and metro system, commuter rail, and paratransit services. Responsibilities also included the Port of Baltimore, BWI Thurgood Marshal Airport, and the statewide Motor Vehicle services statewide. He has previously served in industry leadership positions as Chair AASHTO Standing Committee on Data Management and Analytics, Chair Eastern Transportation Coalition, Chair Maryland Port Commission, Chair Maryland Aviation Commission, and Vice-Chair Washington Metro Transit Authority Board of Directors.
