ABOUT GREGORY KAPINOS

Laureate of the medical school Francois Rabelais in Tours and diplomate at Pitie-Salpetriere in Paris, Dr. Kapinos did clinical sub-internships in medicine at Francois Rabelais U. and in medicine, neurology and rehabilitation at Northwestern U. He trained as an intern in general & emergency medicine in Paris, in internal medicine at Albert Einstein CoM and then completed his residency in neurology at Stanford U. Dr. Kapinos has developed sub-specialty skills in critical care EEG at Columbia U, stroke at the NIH, neurosurgical critical care at UCLA and in stroke MR imaging at Georgetown U. Dr. Kapinos is a board-certified neurologist, neurointensivist, neurosurgical intensivist, neuroimager, neurosonologist, critical care neurophysiologist and bioethicist. He is licensed in the states of California and New York and speaks English and French fluently. The field of practice of Dr. Kapinos is neurocritical care, a new discipline at the intersection of neurology, neurological surgery, endovascular interventional neuroradiology, anesthesiology & critical care, trauma & emergency medicine. His focus is on improving outcomes of patients with neurological life-threatening illnesses. Dr. Kapinos completed a fellowship in neurocritical care at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia & Cornell U. His research interests cover prognostication and detection of secondary injury in neurocritical care, multimodal monitoring, prediction of ischemic & hemorrhagic complications by EEG, MRI & TCD as well as management of TBI, subarachnoid hemorrhage and status epilepticus. Dr. Kapinos was ACLS & ATLS certified in 2009. This inspired his foundation of a revived ANLS, for which he is copyright and trademark owner, while instigating the ENLS program. He is now BDLS certified as well as ACLS, ATLS, FCCS & CCEMT-P instructor. Dr. Kapinos is an advocacy leader for his multidisciplinary field and his patients suffering from brain injury.
