ABOUT GREGOR MEIERING
Gregor B.M. Meiering is a political scientist and development professional with more than two decades of wide-ranging expertise in research, consulting, and training in the areas of public policy and civic participation. Across the Middle East and North Africa as well as in Eastern Europe and South Asia, he has worked within government administrations, on behalf of international development agencies (EU, UN system, World Bank), and with civil society organizations. Before focusing on advisory services, he served as Director of the Open Society Institute’s Arab Regional Office, the Near East Regional Office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Amman, and as Advisor to the Ministry of Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He coordinated research and fellowship programs at the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin as well as at the Universities of Mainz and Munich. He is author and editor of the first comprehensive studies on the book industry and reading habits in Arab countries. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French and German.
