ABOUT GREG MACKENZIE

With over 20 years of professional practice in the fields of land use planning and urban design – in Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario), Europe and South East Asia – I bring a diverse skill set to the specific project requirements of my clients. My depth and breadth of planning experience, from regional policy planning to detailed subdivision design and approval, allows me to effectively visualize a project from inception to completion. Through extensive in-the-field experience on a wide range of urban and rural projects, many of them award-winning, I’ve developed innovative approaches to delivering plans which meet the needs of my clients as well as approving authorities. While engaged in the private sector, I’ve regularly provided services to public sector clients, providing me a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of municipal decision making processes. I’m an effective communicator with extensive committee, stakeholder and public consultation experience. I\'m a past member of the Executive Committee of the Urban Development Institute (UDI)- Greater Edmonton Chapter and currently an elected member of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) Leadership Board. I\'m also actively involved in planning education - developing courses and delivering lectures, presentations and site tours for the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension (Applied Land Use Planning) and Geography programs. Combined with my experience and project work, these activities and my other professional associations keep me at the leading edge of planning and development practice. Well respected in the industry, I’ve developed an extensive professional network which allows me to bring expert knowledge and experience – as needed – to effectively address the varied requirements of any development project. I’m an experienced and effective leader and manager of inter-disciplinary project teams, skilled at keeping complex projects moving forward, on time and on budget.
