About Gregory Hanstedt
I have a rich and long history in the Information Technology business. In college at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, I worked as a Technical Specialist on our Novell network helping the lead administrator with day to day tasks as well as strategic planning. From there, I was hired into Marquette Electronics as a CAD/CAM Systems Administrator. I worked with mainly electrical circuit board designers to administer there systems and develop productivity tools to make their jobs easier. After Marquette was acquired by GE Medical Systems, I moved into Information Technology doing Server Architecture. I worked with application teams to understand requirements and acquire systems to match their needs, providing design information to our build teams to match those needs. I now manage a team of employees and contractors for the Americas Initiatives team. We are the team in the US for GE Healthcare that focuses on server design and build for internal systems - all the way from a couple of simple Windows VMs to our largest ERP environments running Oracle Applications. My largest most recent accomplishment was the migration from seven Sun Fire E25K frames to Sun SPARC Enterprise M-Series equipment This technology refresh increased performance, reduced managed server count and will save the business $4 million per year.
