About Gregg Cannady
It feels like my life\'s work, great friends, industry partners, and an unstoppable passion for the power of learning has led me to a place where I can hopefully make a difference. I am so thankful for the many opportunities we have to listen to the voices of students, teachers, industry leaders, and communities. Together we will \"create world-wide educational partnerships that inspire learning and global citizenship.\" Dr. Gregg Canady is currently the Sr. Manager of STEM and Student Experience for DSST Public Schools in Denver, Colorado. By bringing the passion of purpose of students directly to industry leaders and subject matter experts (SME), we unlock the potential of students. The quest is to make sure students are prepared to thrive in their future careers and lives. The approach allows students to do the work while teachers facilitate a learning relationship with industry experts and subject matter experts. Before coming to DSST, Dr. Cannady was Director of Collaboration and Concept Development at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado. With the help of an executive-level industry advisory board, we began working on a movement in learning called Building Ships. Relationships Mentorships, Partnerships, Leadership, Citizenship Internships, Apprenticeships, Friendships, Sponsorships, Stories of STEM-infused collaborations, industry partnerships, and connecting teachers in real-time via synchronous learning can be found at a site called THE SYNK, https://stemk12.org/academics/the-synk/. Global efforts can be seen in the nonprofit Dr. Cannady co-founded, called One Voice 4 Change. Dr. Cannady received D.M.A. in Choral Conducting and Literature from the University of Colorado, a M.A. in Music Education from the University of Wyoming, and a B.A. in Music Education from Colorado State University. Choral ensembles under his direction have performed at several state and national conferences and have toured extensively in the United States, China, Italy and Germany. He developed a music education curriculum using digital applications such as Ableton 9, PUSH, AudioCubes and the music composition software Sibelius. Dr. Cannady presented this real-world approach to teaching music at workshops for music educators at state and national music conferences. This real-world approach to music education led to research and development of real-world, real-time collaborative learning with K-12 students in almost every subject.
