ABOUT GREG SMITH
Career ProfileI started my career in an analytical laboratory at 16 and continued to work for the same company for 11 years. My first employers were much focused on educating their staff and allowed me to go ‘day release’ to achieve my chemistry qualifications as well as other open learning courses. As well as the academic and laboratory skills I learned much about the chemical plant process and its operation. I was always interested in the environmental side of the business and when it arose I took the opportunity to work for a waste transfer station. After spending my first year in the waste industry I decided to look for experience further afield. My experience working in Australia taught me how different industries and cultures operate but my interest was always in the recycling reuse and recovery of the products they made. My first employment back in England was at a Viridor landfill site before moving to Remondis UK. My current vocation with the CSG group gave me the opportunity to use my skills in building & developing new treatment and transfer facilities under the banner of CSG Recovery. I now lead \'CSG Recovery\' and focus my efforts in new methods and technologies to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover waste.
