Direct claims operations of the League\'s workers compensation and property liability trusts by working closely with the Claims Managers, Supervisors and claims teams, defense attorneys, and pool members to ensure appropriate management of legal matters related to the Workers Compensation and Property & Liability trusts. Overseeing work flows, establishing goals and objectives for each work unit; advising and counseling League employees and the Board of Trustees regarding claims and risk management issues, consulting with municipal attorneys and city managers regarding employment practices, zoning and land use policies and procedures, assisting with complex investigations, presenting to councils and attending workshops. Responsibilities include-Monitoring large and catastrophic claims, ensuring appropriate claim reserves- Timely reporting to re-insurers- Monitor and assess litigation trends and data impacting the pools- Exercise oversight of defense counsel for compliance with applicable litigation management guidelines- Review and assess defense counsel performance, using both subjective and objective measures- Provide settlement authority within established guidelines.
