ABOUT GREG HERBERT

I have been working with Frasers for around 4 years now, starting on the Power Bi platform across a variety of retail departments. But over the last 18 months I have been working more on the data engineering aspect of the data team. We are currently working on projects in implementing GCP within our infrastructure (migrating from Snowflake within this process). We also intend to implement Collibra to govern our data policies and document our pipeline processes on the whole. We also want to enhance our estate by implementing Google\'s vertex tool to increase our AI operations.During my time at Frasers I have also acquired skills and experience in data engineering concepts. Including pipeline builds from both SQL and Oracle source databases, loading to an on premise data warehouse and a cloud based Snowflake warehouse. Experience in a variety of engineering tools such as; Databricks, Airflow and Fivetran. Beginning to strengthen my knowledge on Python in line with data engineering specific task creations. I have also completed SQLBI training on how data models should be constructed to deliver the best performance possible, using star schemas wherever possible and also optimising models in terms of relationships and data types. I have previously worked in the UK FE sector (11 years exp), operating as part of a team of, predominantly SQL developers, with a shared aim to maximise the use of College data across many Systems; EBS, Maytas, bespoke databases, Perceptive Software document management and workflow (just to name a few). We also develop mobile reports in the form of Dashboards that include drill through information and statistics.I have worked on presenting reports based upon live data coming directly from systems, as well as developing against a DataWarehouse. Experience in developing SSIS packages across both platforms. Responsibilities in SQL included the development and creation of stored procedures and functions. Also experienced in running update queries between multiple live databases, in both real-time and in overnight package builds.Experienced in creating reports within Report Builder and Microsoft Visual Studio. Also have some understanding of JavaScript, C#, Vb and PYTHON, gained via working on various projects over recent years.Summary : Hard working, eager to learn, ambitious, professional, problem solver
