About Greg Grass

Twenty-five years experience in public health, community organizing, project management and providing technical assistance and training to grant recipients. Peace Corps detail 20••••••10 months) to develop alcohol and drug policies and prevention education programing for all PC volunteers. Detailed to Centers for Disease Control; served in Guinea on the Emergency Ebola response team (March - May 2015), SAHMSA agency lead for the Drug Free Communities Program two-day New Grantee Training with 450 participants in 2013 and 2014; built the team that implemented the 2015 event. As a Project Officer for three different HHS programs, I have valuable skills including grantee support, planning and technical assistance; liaison with contractors to provide targeted training, analysis of performance and grantee data, and in-depth site visit and reviews experience. Served as acting team leader on a number of occasions, and managed staff. Worked on the development of Electronic Health Records systems at HRSA and also in SAMHSA/CSAT for collection of Statewide Block Grant reporting requirements. In previous positions I worked in community development, social services delivery, mental health counseling with both youth and adults, and developed a youth mentoring program. I earned a MSW degree after working in the field for a number of years. I have clinical and group counseling skills, and am an active leader in a peer counseling organization for the past 24 years. I have excellent communication and coordination skills, facilitating work with grantees, technical assistance staff and partners in collaborating agencies to support grantee success. I engage my skills in leadership, teambuilding, and facilitation in agency workgroups, and policy development to implement best or promising practices.

SAMHSA lead planning and managing the New DFC Grantee trainings in 20••••15. Liaison with ONDCP which runs the DFC program. Staff lead for DFC Handbook development for 3 years.
