About Greg Burchett

I am a Professor of Biological Sciences, at Riverside City College where I have the wonderful opportunity to share my experience in field biology, zoology, ecological relationships, endangered species management, and my passion for habitat restoration. The tragic loss of my son at the hands of his mother inspired me to write a novel entitled \"Missing The Links\" where I hope my experiences (from a mans perspective) may help prevent further teagedy. I am a strong advocate in mental health issues, and in raising awareness of perinatal and psychological disorders. I have had the honor of being an invited speaker at medical symposia, public events, and with California State Legislators in Sacramento. I have extensive experience with endangered species management, native habitat restoration, non-native invasive species removal, environmental consultation (endangered species surveys, heavy equipment construction monitoring, critical habitat designation, project mitigation and negotiation). In addition to my academic areas of expertise, I have extensive experience in heavy equipment construction and civil engineering. Agricultural land clearing, commercial and private developments, custom home pad construction, dam and reservoir construction. In addition, I am on contract with the US Forest Service and Cal Fire as a firefighter, in fire line construction on wildfires. My experience as a field biologist and ecologist has also proved very beneficial during firefighting activities.
