ABOUT GREG BALUKONIS

I consider myself fortunate to have had another opportunity working in local government as the Interim Town Administrator for the Town of Barre, MA for the second time beginning in May, 2025 having served in the same capacity 2 years ago. Previously, I served successfully as the Interim Town Administrator for Towns of Blackstone, Webster and Mendon, MA. Prior to my post-retirement job assignments, I worked as a Field Supervisor (CFS) for the US Census Bureau taking part in the 2020 Federal Census. Born and raised in Central MA. Educated as a Planner, but instead spent my entire career working as a municipal manager for Massachusetts local government leading a dynamic and responsive organizations. I bring a collaborative, business triage approach to problem solving and management. Most of all I bring experience having successful navigated challenging times, and can bring similar resolve whatever new direction I decide to take my next career. I commit myself to building an organization where the management team works tirelessly to gain the trust and respect of its stakeholders, and does not get frustrated with the demands and uncertainty of the present times. I am looking to lead a team of goal directed managers who are dedicated team members who can get the job done on time and budget. I worked to successfully resolve a major civil rights investigation spurred by a religious group seeking protection under federal law and employee misconduct caused by racially insensitive remarks on social media, both of these instances resulted in considerable media attention where I served the point person on all inquiries. I successfully addressed violence and bigotry in the workplace, undertaken investigations that protected employee rights and eliminated employer liability. I have proven to be confident and decisive in acting to remove negative influences that derail public trust, and hinder personal achievement and high performance. Specialties: crisis management, research, planning, strategic thinking, management, finance, budget, labor negotiation, media relations, problem solving and the ability to build a high performing leadership team.
