   LandVest has two sides to the business - Luxury Real Estate sales, management and consulting; and Timberland sales, management and consulting. I am responsible for all HR-related duties for 120 employees in 14 states, plus 50 real estate brokers (independent contractors). This includes benefit administration (including 401k administration), payroll, an overhaul and continuous updates of the employee handbook, recruiting, onboarding, leave tracking, state-required training, employee communications, employee file management, compliance, etc. I also assist managers with performance reviews, job descriptions, labor/employment laws and tricky employee situations. I am part of the benefits committee, and assist with decisions regarding company benefit offerings, communications related to benefits and employee surveys. I also publish a monthly newsletter to keep employees and brokers up to date on company news, HR topics, benefits, wellness, technology, etc.The biggest challenge I face working at LandVest, is the number of states in which we have offices. I have to be familiar with labor and employment laws in all 14 states, including California, which has the greatest number of state-specific employment laws by far! The best part of working at LandVest is the people. I work with a great group of people in my office, and get a chance to interact with just about everyone in the company at one time or another. Our staff is passionate about their work, knowledgeable and hardworking! I also enjoy being able to work remotely on occasion, and enjoy the view from our lovely downtown Concord, NH office.
