ABOUT SAM GRAY

I\'ve always liked building things.As a kid, that meant glueing lollipop sticks together and calling it a plane. These days, my tools are code, cloud infrastructure and the occasional RS485 cable in a machine room with no phone signal.I took a non-traditional route into tech. I studied Biology at university, but spent more time writing code than disecting frogs. A BioInformatics module in my final year cemented my love for code. I fell in love with programming and went on to complete an MSc in Applied Computing at the University of Dundee.Since then, I\'ve worked across database administration, technical support, software engineering and consultancy, for companies ranging from tiny start-ups to global corporates. That varied background has made me a generalist in the best sense: someone who can see the big picture, ship software, and help teams do the same.I\'m also a firm believer in using technology for good. I\'ve spent time teaching kids to code and delivering technology projects in Malawi. That same motivation led me to Energy Mutual, and ultimately to Konductor.Today, I\'m CTO at Konductor Energy Software, a company I co-founded. We build software that brings distributed energy operations into one place: hydro schemes, wind farms, community energy projects, off-grid systems. One dashboard, real-time monitoring, full confidence that your assets are running properly.It\'s been a journey. From consultancy side-project to award-winning platform (Scottish Green Energy Awards 2024, Shell LiveWire global finalist).
