ABOUT GRAY CRAGG
Dedicated and passionate Master\'s student of Political Science (with Co-Op) at the University of Ottawa. My research on Somaliland, Eritrea, and the politics of statehood and recognition has been published in the Journal of Military and Strategic Studies. Worked as a Research Assistant for Dr. Lavinia Stan and Dr. Yvon Grenier in the Political Science Department between May 2022 and August 2024. Attended two National Model United Nations conferences in New York City, representing Italy in the First General Assembly in 2023, and Saudi Arabia in the Second General Assembly in 2024. Helped my school to be recognized as a delegation of Honorable Mention both years, and was voted in as Vice President in 2023.I aspire to work for the United Nations, Global Affairs Canada, or other relevant NGOs in the realm of diplomacy and development. I believe that my addition to a team in this area of work (or any) would bring organization, communication, mediation, and dedication. I take pride in my work, and am capable not only of working alone, but in teams of any number. I look forward to engaging with any and all employers.Worked as a Camp Counsellor at Youth Leadership Camps Canada between 20••••24. Climbed the ranks, having made the transition from camper to staff member, and thereafter being promoted to Activities Coordinator and temporarily as High Ropes Coordinator. I have led camping and canoeing trips with campers aged 13-17 and have led groups with campers aged between 4 years of age and 30 years of age. I have also worked with international groups who attended the camp. I have won multiple in-house awards for my work, including Counsellor of the Week and Most Improved; I have also been nominated twice for Staff of the Year. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, for which I won Intramural Athlete of the Year for all sports in 2023, and helped my team to win Team of the Year for Basketball the same year and a championship in 2024. I also enjoy camping, playing the guitar, and keeping up with world events.
