ABOUT GRANT ARMOUR
Grant Armour is an award-winning and Emmy-nominated writer-director and composer whose work spans premium scripted drama and high-end true-crime documentary. His projects are driven by character, psychological tension, and close attention to narrative detail, often examining how truth is shaped under pressure and how personal stories collide with public scrutiny. Before moving into scripted drama, Grant built a strong reputation in feature documentaries and docuseries, working across complex and high-stakes subject matter including violent crime, organised networks, institutional power, subcultures and media culture. He notably shot the Emmy-nominated series Gaycation with Elliot Page. His early work defined an intimate, character-led approach that continues to inform his scripted work. His feature-length television documentary credits include Manhunt: The Phantom Cop Killer for Channel 5 and Paramount UK, a multi-disciplinary project which he filmed, produced, directed, edit-produced, and scored. He also produced and directed a documentary on 1990s entertainer Michael Barrymore, blending the celebrity biopic with true crime to interrogate fame, control, and public perception. In 2025, Grant completed Murderer Behind The Mask, a two-part docuseries shot in Ireland with unprecedented access to the Garda, now available on Prime Video. The series further established his skill in structuring investigative narratives and sustaining character arcs across episodic formats. Most recently, Grant has written and directed the feature-length crime drama Suspect: The Road Rage Killer for Channel 5 and Paramount UK. Drawing on police interviews, archive material, and reconstructed memory, the film transforms a real investigation into a psychologically driven thriller that tracks a protagonist’s evolution from victim to suspect. The project is scheduled for release in 2026.Alongside his film and television work, Grant has directed music documentaries featuring Hudson Mohawke, Stormzy, Liam Gallagher, and Brian Eno, as well as music videos for artists including Tirzah, Mica Levi, and Real Lies. His commercial work includes campaigns for Nike, Red Bull, Universal Music, Stella McCartney, Amnesty International, and Patreon.Grant’s work is defined by a cinematic sensibility, strong control of tone, and a focus on character psychology. He brings a documentarian’s discipline to scripted drama, creating stories that feel grounded, immersive, and emotionally precise.
