About Grant Clay
In 2017, I left a career in engineering to build a practice at Edward Jones. I knew two things I wanted from my new career. First, I wanted to know that every day I did my job I was changing lives. Second, I wanted to have a business to call my own. The process of building my practice has given me a small glimpse into what it is like to be a small business owner. Because of this I naturally gravitated toward serving business owners. I appreciate how business owners think, how seriously they take the success of their business and how they value advice that will help them be as successful as they can be. As I began to serve business owners it became clear I needed to be able to partner with them in their personal financial life and their business financial life. I help business owners understand what is important to them in their business, personal and financial lives and align them toward their ultimate goal, business transition and their next phase of life. By teaming with other CEPA® professionals like CPAs, Business/Estate/M&A Attorneys, investment bankers, private equity, and other important advisors, I help business owners maximize their business value so that they do not leave money on the table unnecessarily. Furthermore, I ensure that their transition meets their stated goals regarding how and to whom they want to transition the business by understanding all their exit options. My goal for my clients is to ensure that their next phase of life is also their best phase of life. To that end I work with clients to help them cast a vision for life after business. When a business owner has a vision for their next phase of life it becomes much less likely they regret transitioning the business. By understanding what is important to an owner, business and personal, I can help them to orient their financial resources appropriately. We work together to remove risk and deploy capital with one goal in mind, maximizing value. By maximizing value, the owner is most properly positioned to achieve their goals and therefore have the next phase of their life be their best phase of life. Outside of my career, I am active in my community. I am a member of Lake Highlands Exchange Club and a deacon at New St. Peter’s PCA. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Stephanie and daughters Lucia (4), Sophie (3), and Shiloh (8 For instructions to opt out of Edward Jones commercial messaging and other important disclosures, see
