This involves responsibility for the design, advocacy and monitoring of global policies, strategies and programmes in Early Childhood Nutrition - which aim to prevent all forms of malnutrition among children under five both in development and humanitarian contexts and the early detection and treatment of child wasting. Provision of technical expertise and strategic guidance to regional and country offices for the design and implementation of UNICEF-supported programmes to improve the quality of diets, services and practices for early childhood nutrition: breastfeeding, complementary feeding, micronutrient supplementation, home fortification, healthy food environments, early detection and treatment of child wasting and supportive legislation and policies for early childhood nutrition.
