ABOUT GRAHAM REDMAN

I’m currently working as a design coordinator, and senior member of the leadership team, on a major station project for Network Rail. I coordinate and lead the design from over 20 disciplines, including significant input from sub-consultants, and support Network Rail with strategic stakeholder engagement. My background is as a structural engineer with considerable experience of working on buildings within major transport projects. I have worked closely with Network Rail and HS2 at Euston, BAA at Heathrow, Network Rail at King’s Cross, and Crossrail at Liverpool Street.I have a strong ethos of truly multidisciplinary design founded in five years of working side by side with internal architectural colleagues. During that time I played a leading role within the team on a number of commercial, academic, and transport building projects at all project stages.Overall I have spent nearly half my career working closely with contractors on construction phase projects, and have developed an excellent understanding of how to design for constructability. I take a particular interest in the unique challenges of working with existing buildings, especially where they are of historical merit.I am actively involved in the women\'s network at Arup, believing that improving equality and diversity in engineering is one of most important challenges facing the industry at the moment.Outside of work I am volunteer crew for the RNLI at Chiswick, and tend to split my free time between that, family, and a variety of sporting interests. I also have one day at home each week to look after my daughters and would be happy to talk to anyone interested in doing it themselves and wondering how it fits alongside an engineering career.
