My course provides upper year law students with a foundation in secured transactions in personal property in Ontario. It focusses on the Ontario Personal Property Security Act, but also engages the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and other statutes, as well as the common law. Topics include the nature and function of credit markets, the theory behind personal property security laws; attachment and perfection of security; special types of collateral; priority of conflicting interests; conflict of laws and enforcement.
