He was raised on a 75-acre organic subsistence farm in Nova Scotia, where he dug his hands into his very first garden patch at the age of 5. His immersion in this naturally productive environment has lead to the understanding of the great importance this fundamental link to the planet has on a child throughout their development. He developed his skills in landscaping over the years doing various design projects concentrating on aesthetic landscape design before embarking on his journey to Montreal to study a bachelor’s degree in Human Environment specializing in Ecology at Concordia University. During his studies he worked for Environment Canada’s Museum of the Environment, the Biosphere, where he refined his skills in environmental education with a diversity of age groups ranging from 5-75 years old and cultures from all around the world. Upon completion of his degree he acquired a work-trade apprenticeship in permaculture education at the Pacific Permaculture Institute on Denman Island, BC. Once the program was completed he proceeded to study the intensive Permaculture Design Certification with Pacific Permaculture. After founding his social enterprise P3 Permaculture: People for the Profit of the Planet apprenticed at the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia with Geoff Lawton. While at PRI Australia he became certified in Earthworks and as a Permaculture Teacher. Now, Graham is working on developing a variety of educational permaculture demonstration sites that will produce abundance in food for their communities.
