Stirling, GB

As a Non-Executive Director (NED) of Tennis Scotland, I contribute to the strategic oversight and governance of the national governing body for tennis in Scotland. My role involves supporting and challenging the executive leadership team to ensure the effective delivery of Tennis Scotland’s vision, which is to grow and develop tennis at all levels across the country—from grassroots participation to elite performance.I bring independent judgment, a breadth of experience, and a commitment to good governance, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interest of the sport, its players, and wider stakeholders. My responsibilities include contributing to board discussions on long-term strategy, financial sustainability, risk management, and organisational performance, while also championing inclusivity, transparency, and accountability across all Tennis Scotland activities.I actively engage with key partners including sportscotland, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), local authorities, clubs, and communities, helping to foster collaboration and alignment with national and UK-wide tennis initiatives. I also support Tennis Scotland’s mission to increase participation, improve access to facilities, and ensure opportunities exist for everyone to enjoy and excel in the sport. In addition to the standard Non-executive fiduciary oversight, since late 2023 I have been the board lead for Anti-Doping for the organisation. Working in conjunction with UKAD, I help the delivery team ensure that our sport is clean, transparent, and fair, and that all participants have an equal chance to compete. In my NED capacity, I maintain independence from day-to-day operations, focusing instead on setting clear strategic direction, monitoring progress, and offering constructive oversight. I am proud to help guide the growth of tennis in Scotland and to contribute to a culture that promotes excellence, opportunity, and lifelong involvement in the sport.
