ABOUT GRAEME DAVIDSON
I’m a data scientist and cognitive neuroscientist researcher with 9 years of experience in academic and commercial research, investigating human motivations. I currently apply this knowledge in developing demand forecasting technology, with a specific focus on feature engineering for optimise forecast performance.I have collaborated on and developed a number of commercial projects for investigating, and measuring evaluative processing in consumers, to this end I have, with the support of my colleagues, developed commercial system for evaluating advertising effectiveness, and the impact of this on sales. In addition to this I have developed and maintained a number of forecasting systems and means of reporting these in an easily digestible way for wider audiences and decision makers. Colleagues know me as a highly creative researcher who can always be trusted to come up with a new approach. Working with industrial partners I have learnt to appreciate the needs of our partners, and to communicate with them more effectively, without imposing my ideas on others. Instead, I spend a lot of time understanding the research questions they what to investigate, in the same way that I previously did in academic research. Much of my research is directed through collaborating with other researchers/data scientists, both commercial and academic, however I can (and often do) work just as well alone.I have a PhD in cognitive neuroscience from the University of Liverpool, along with a MSc in research methods and statistics (Distinction) and a 1st class BSc in Psychology. I am a passionate and constant learner of data science skills and techniques, and contribute to both teaching and learning in the DS community, specifically R4DS.
