About Graciela E.
Graciela Escamilla is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary\'s University (MSMU). She majored in Political Science and double minored in Pre-law and Spanish Studies. Awarded the Le Puy Founders’ Scholarship, which is a full-tuition scholarship only offered to five students per year, she takes pride in her devotion to her education. She was involved in various extracurriculars at her university. On her campus, she served as Executive Vice President of the Student Government Association and Chair of the Inner Club Council. SGA taught her the importance of communication and collaboration as she listened to student grievances and worked towards resolving the issues with other SGA members. During her sophomore and junior years, Graciela worked as a research assistant on the Women Along the Los Angeles Tijuana (WALAT) border project, focusing on the needs of migrant women. As a first-generation student, Graciela wants to empower the Latine and immigrant community to vocalize their concerns and advocate for themselves in the political sphere. In the future, she intends to pursue law school to follow her passion for advocating for people’s rights and aspires to help future generations prosper.
