Lead and manage climate mitigation and adaptation strategies in alignment with adopted Climate Action Plans (CAPs) for two municipalities. Key responsibilities include:Lead the development and adoption of local sustainability policies, including energy reach codes, municipal decarbonization strategies, waste reduction initiatives, etcOversee implementation and reporting for key state legislation, including SB 1383 (organic waste reduction) and Advanced Clean Fleets, ensuring local compliance and operational readiness.Successfully write, secure, and administer grants from agencies such as CalRecycle, the Ocean Protection Council, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to fund local sustainability and adaptation projects.Lead funding, management, and development of Vulnerability Assessments and Shoreline Adaptation Plans to strategize solutions for sea level rise risk and educate community members (RSAP / SB272)Chair the Marin Climate and Energy Partnership (MCEP), coordinating regional efforts among municipalities to implement climate action strategies and share best practices.Partner with municipal departments to embed CAP measures into operations, capital improvement planning, and annual work programs, aligning climate goals with agency objectives.Support regional strategies for public EV charging, micromobility, transit access, and low-carbon transportation options.Supervise and mentor interns, providing hands-on guidance to support emerging professionals in climate policy and planning.Design and lead public outreach campaigns, including a monthly Sustainability Newsletter, CAP progress updates, local incentive programs, and educational resources. Host weekly office hours to engage directly with community members and stakeholders.Conduct GHG emissions analysis, develop implementation tools, and prepare reports and presentations for elected officials, advisory bodies, and the public to guide decision-making and track progress.
