As a Research Operations Intern for LEO\'s Dr. James X. Sullivan, I executed and improved a replication package in Stata to produce 19••••23 domestic poverty rates for various price indices, age groups, and anchor years.(See povertymeasurement.org.) When measuring poverty with a different methodology from the official poverty measure (OPM), pinning (or anchoring) the rate to the official rate in a given year is crucial; by doing so, we ensure that the new metric captures the same part of the poverty distribution as the OPM. Then, with the metric normalized to the anchor year, we can more easily observe trends in the data. I contributed user-input functionality to anchor rates to the official poverty measure in any year since 1988, a leap from the previous options of 1980 or 2015. In the course of my work, I merged and analyzed datasets with up to 7M datapoints and thousands of variables. I also created compelling figures and additional analysis for a policy paper,\"Beyond the Myths: A Clearer Path to Poverty Alleviation in America,\" by Drs. Melissa Kearney and James X.
