ABOUT GRACE GOMASHIE

Dr. Grace Gomashie currently serves as the Portfolio Manager, Health at Velocity, the flagship incubator of the University of Waterloo. In this position, she manages a portfolio of 50 health startups, passionately working to solve local and global health challenges. One of her key goals is to build, sustain, and support institutional and individual partnerships between Velocity, health innovators, healthcare organizations, government, not-for-profits, and academic institutions. Together with her team, she has built a network of hospitals and community partners who engage in meaningful conversations to inform, guide, design, validate, and integrate innovations in healthcare settings. In addition to her role at Velocity, she is actively engaged in research and projects related to Indigenous languages, Hispanic studies, bilingualism, second language learning, equity, onomastics, knowledge mobilization, and community engagement. She has collaborated with communities, funding agencies, sport organizations, professional associations, small businesses, charities, and academic institutions. With a collaborative mindset, Dr. Gomashie leads strategic initiatives, drives operational excellence, and builds cross-sector partnerships in healthcare, academia, and the public sector.
