ABOUT GOSHEN DAVID MITEU
Goshen David Miteu is currently undergoing his Doctoral studies in Biomedical Science at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, United States of America on a fully funded scholarship. He also doubles as a Graduate Research Assistant in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is a Commonwealth Scholar with a masters in Biotechnology at the University of Nottingham, England, United Kingdom. He is on a path towards pushing boundaries in scienceGoshen did his Undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Caleb University Lagos, Nigeria where he graduated as the overall best student/valedictorian in his cohort with a CGPA of 4.90/5.0.He won the I Scholar Initiative and EducationUSA membership award in 2021 during his National Youth Service at Ondo, Nigeria. He went further in 2022 to win the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship award at the University of Nottingham in 2022 and a fully funded Doctoral scholarship to study Biomedical science in the US.Goshenβs research and statement is driven by the fact that unhealthy situations will not change if nothing is done about it. He is passionate about impacting science by using nascent technologies and translating knowledge learnt to address real time problems. His research interest revolves around the mechanisms that underlies endolysosomal damage and HIV Associated Neurodegenerative Disorders (HAND). Goshen seeks to identify potential targets for novel therapeutic strategies to address HAND. Cross talks that cuts across neuroscience and cellular biological processes in viral pathogenesis piques his interest. He has co-authored and published several articles towards combating infectious diseases and achieving one health. Hence, his contribution to the field. In his masters, he studied how microbial cell factories can be used and manipulated as model organisms to understand disease mechanisms. His masters thesis was on \"Recombinant Protein Production and Purification of a Functional Human RNA Helicase from Bacterial Expression System\".He is proficient in the use of high throughput recombinant DNA and molecular techniques. He is fascinated about predictive modelling in medicine/therapeutics to drive personalised medicine. He is intentional about creating sustainable network and connections, he has volunteered with organisations, led multiple research teams, and has collaborated with colleagues for impact in science through publications and community development. He enjoys listening to music, playing the piano/drums, networking and social interactions as a hobby.
