ABOUT GORDON SHAND

Training program development. For the past 35 years I have been designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive competency-based training programs and performance management systems, especially for industry. Instructional design is one of my specialties. The goal is to improve business success. In December, 2014, I published a series of seven books on The Exemplary Worker. The books focus on using critical thinking strategies to improve employee, job, and corporate performance. The goal is to improve job satisfaction, job retention, and promotion. These books can benefit: These books are useful for: • individuals who want to be outstanding employees • apprentices and students who want to work safely and effectively • supervisors who want staff to be more effective • trainers who want to contribute to improved corporate, job, and employee performance • trades instructors who want their apprentices to work safely and effectively • instructional designers who want to ensure that training is relevant, useful, and practical • operations staff who want to optimize production and minimize losses I Have also developed a cognitive-based safety program, SafeThink, to prevent illness and injury. I have also customized the program for agriculture. My eighth book is Interviewing to Gather Relevant Content for Training. There are many challenges when interviewing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather relevant content for training. This book provides strategies you need to provide leadership to direct the SME to identify relevant training content—content that contributes to improved worker, job, and corporate (organization /business) performance. This book is useful for: • educational, training, and performance consultants • training program designers • instructional designers • technical writers • trainers and coaches • internal staff who develop training To learn more go to
