About Gordon S. Williams

Gordon S. Williams Since the start of G Sharp Productions in 1996, former Black Entertainment Television intern Gordon S. Williams has been a part of the entertainment landscape in Southeast Texas for over twenty years. From producing creative media content, facilitating independent film screenings/industry events, hosting Latin Dance events, and being on-camera talent, Williams has built a diverse and impressive body of work and accomplishments. As a filmmaker, Gordon is a multi-award-winning writer, producer, and director whose independent short film projects have been screened at over seventy different film festivals/venues, nationally and internationally, and has received over sixty awards. His work has earned distribution deals from Amazon Video, Shorts International, Kweli.TV, and Indieflix. “The Example,” an award-winning historical fiction short film set during the 1943 Beaumont Race Riot that Gordon wrote and co-produced was featured on Fox 26 Houston’s “Juneteenth Celebration” television program in June 2020. As the Lamar University Television Studio Operations Manager, Gordon has produced commercials, documentaries, and television shows that have garnered over forty awards from professional media organizations. In 2009, he was a CUSH Magazine “Outstanding Achievement in Media/Broadcasting” honoree and received Lamar University’s “Distinguished Staff Award” in 2016. Gordon was an executive producer/director for Lamar Cardinals Athletics’ Big Red Sports Network/ESPN 3 productions. Williams is also the adjunct professor/instructor for Lamar University Television News. In February 2021, he was selected as the “Entertainment Honoree” by the Southeast Texas Martin Luther King, Jr. Support Group for his contributions to the area. In October 2021, Williams was asked to participate as a presenter for the East Texas Historical Association meeting to talk about “The Example.” Recently, Williams premiered a documentary titled “They Will Talk About Us: The Charlton-Pollard Story” about the oldest Black community in Beaumont, Texas for LUTV Productions.
