ABOUT GORDON SONDLAND

Ambassador Gordon Sondland is the Founder and CEO of Provenance Hotels, a national owner and operator of full-service boutique “lifestyle” hotels. In 2018, Sondland was appointed to serve as the 20th U.S. Ambassador to the European Union by President Trump. After being intoduced to the Senate Foreign Relations committee by Sens. Wyden & Tillis, Sondland was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate in June 2018 and served as Ambassador to the E.U. until February 2020. As Ambassador, Sondland was one of the highest-ranking U.S. officials in Europe and his portfolio included trade, energy, national security, defense, agriculture and several other files.Sondland held positions on Democrat Governor Ted Kulongoski’s transition team, as well as on the Commission for White House Fellowships to which he was appointed by President George W. Bush. Working across the aisle, he served as a principal Republican liaison between Oregon and the White House and assisted successfully in securing federal funds for various urgent State needs. Sondland also served as Chairman of the Portland Art Museum until 2011. He was appointed by Governor Kulongoski as Chairman to the Governor’s Office of Film and Television in 2002. He is a recent member of the U.S. Bancorp Advisory Board and served on the Board of Visitors of the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.Sondland co-founded the Gordon D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant Foundation, which was established to help families and boost communities.
