ABOUT GORDON THOMAS

Currently I am the Assistant Athletic Director for Development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In my current role, I assist the Vice President and Director of Athletics and the Senior Associate Athletic Director in day to day responsibilities which include fundraising, donor relations, event planning, alumni relations, ticket sales, and community engagement. I have a Master\'s degree in Sport Administration from Ohio University and 10+ years of experience in college athletics, working with some of the most prestigious and successful programs in the country. My core competencies include fundraising, donor relations, alumni relations, ticket sales, Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL), budget management, compliance, academic support, student-athlete wellness, player development, community relations, team operations, travel coordination, event planning, facilities management, and staff supervision. I am passionate about creating a positive and supportive environment for student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fostering a culture of integrity, accountability. Transitioning into athletic administration has allowed me to leverage my skills and knowledge to advance the mission and vision of a leading academic and athletic institution.
