The Director of Military Support (DOMS) for the Arizona National Guard (NGAZ) is primarily responsible for coordinating National Guard support during emergencies and other critical situations to the State of Arizona. The main responsibilities of the DOMS-AZ are: National Guard Support to State Authorities (NGSA): The DOMS coordinates the provision of military support to DEMA’s Emergency Management Division during Gubernatorial and Presidential Disaster Declarations and other missions to coordinate for available National Guard personnel and equipment form the Arizona Army and air National Guard support to the Department of Homeland Security.Validation of Requests: The DOMS is responsible for validating requests for military assistance from lead state agencies1.Planning and Coordination: The DOMS plans, coordinates, and executes DSCA missions for the state’s military department1.Joint Operations Center: The DOMS activates the Joint Operations Center and assists the joint staff during declared disasters, emergencies, and terrorist events.Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA): The DOMS coordinates the provision of military support during Gubernatorial and Presidential Disaster Declarations and other missions to provide DSCA and support to the Department of Homeland Security.Oversight of Specialized Teams: The DOMS has staff oversight of specialized teams such as the Civil Support Team (WMD) and Regional Counter-Drug Training Academy/CD Task Force1.Advisory Role: The DOMS serves as an advisor to senior leadership on policy, personnel readiness, training, administration, and management2.These responsibilities ensure that the National Guard is prepared to support civil authorities effectively during emergencies and other critical situations.
