ABOUT GORAN BARBIR
As a dedicated and self-driven educator, my mission revolves around empowering learners to realize their academic and personal potential. I recognize the significance of clarifying the concept of \'potential,\' particularly in diverging from traditional definitions that emphasize power and economic success. My focus is on nurturing a potential that is altruistic, directed towards others and the environment, with a keen sensitivity to the less visible aspects of our surroundings. This potential is cultivated by striving daily to become a better version of oneself through critical observation of both the external world and our internal landscapes. My aspiration is to guide young adults within the framework of an established, non-profit IB school. Ideally, I would contribute through teaching IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), coupled with a leadership role aimed at enhancing students\' daily lives.Drawing from my extensive experience, I have been trained in and taught various subjects across diverse international curricula and grade levels, consistently achieving above-average external examination results. Moreover, I have successfully coordinated Science subjects at a whole-school level. My leadership journey continued as a Pastoral Coordinator, responsible for students\' everyday well-being, behavior management, and student leadership initiatives. Presently, I serve as a whole-school Vice-Principal and Head of Secondary (Middle School and High School), gaining valuable insights into a comprehensive K-12 educational environment. My professional ethos encapsulates the commitment to positively impact the well-being of my communities through continuous learning and diverse roles. Beginning with my students and family, extending to the broader school community, and culminating in the interconnected relationship between humanity and nature, a good day in my book is a day spent serving my communities. In my free time you can find me reading, playing basketball or volunteering for Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation.
