ABOUT GOPAL KRISHNAN

As an Engineering executive, I have built, scaled, and directed engineering and product development organizations. I’ve delved deeply into every stage of the product lifecycle from concept through R&D, quality, and customer support. My experience and education span both mechanical and materials engineering. Elevator mechanical components and subsystems - Doors, machines, suspension, governors, safeties, buffers. Advanced polymers, and polymeric composites materials with applications in propulsion, tribology, heat exchangers, and aerospace structures. Innovative manufacturing, including near net shape, additive and rapid prototyping. Most recently, I\'ve served as head of Mechanical & Materials Engineering and director of product innovation for all suspension components and subsystems. I\'ve driven innovation, efficiency, and customer focus—leading and inspiring global teams to think differently about product design, development, and delivery. My teams and I have delivered standout results: • Creating cutting-edge (and award-winning) technologies for high-rise applications with unique engineering challenges, such as unprecedented building heights and space constraints. • Ramping up engineering efforts to meet 6x increase in demand in the Chinese market. • Capturing >$60M in cost savings. • Transforming the global engineering organization to successfully navigate the separation of Otis Elevator from United Technologies. I’m a curious, disciplined leader and lifelong learner with a passion for analytics and commitment to continually breaking new ground when it comes to innovation. I bring advanced education, focus, and extensive in-the-trenches experience to my work: – MBA; PhD and MS in Materials Engineering; BTech in Materials Science and Engineering. – Organizational leadership and global team engagement (up to 90 people) with a sense of humor – 23 patents – Budgeting up to $20M – Collaboration with all functions - legal, finance, marketing, supply chain, quality, product management – Expert in culling information from disparate data sets
