ABOUT GONZALO PODGAEZKY FOLGUERA
I always thought my dream was to be a crazy scientist in a laboratory. It seemed like an appropriate dream given my BA in Nanoscience and nanotechnology and my master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Research. I gravitated toward a researcher and even started giving classes and seminars. But I kind of just felt meh. I yearned to learn more, yearned to learn something different.A human brain is a crazy place, and there are two things that fascinate me most about product and growth marketing. First: the concept of consumer logic and how rational yet irrational it can be (of course, it depends on people). And second: the challenge of communicating in a way that persuades and convinces consumers always requires optimization (we live in a fast-changing world)—so you\'re optimizing for something that is both rational and irrational. As an entrepreneur, I apply the same thinking in product marketing that I also apply in leadership, because whether you\'re connecting with consumers or with your team, you\'re connecting with the fun irrationality of their logic—in order to bring ideas together, influence an outcome, and also optimize and scale for future growth.Outside of work, I serve as Innovation Manager for Jep Sports Management, a sports agency with more than 50 agents and I collaborate with the Johan Cruyff Institute as a Mentor for Master Degree Students. I also consider myself a “traveler”. I am lucky enough to have traveled to more than 60 countries before my 30s. My three favorite books- Zero to One (Peter Thiel)- Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die.(Chip Heath and Dan Heath)- INSPIRED: How to Create Tech Products Customers Love (Marty Cagan)
