ABOUT GONZALO MENDOZA

I currently serve as a Director of Engineering at Textron Aviation with responsibility over aircraft and systems advanced design, product plan development and tracking, airplane aerodynamic development, vehicle performance, stability and control, aeroelasticity, acoustics, vibration, structural dynamics, and external loads.Since 1998, I have held technical and leadership positions within the company. Previous roles include Senior Engineering Specialist positions in external loads, structural dynamics, and aerodynamic sciences. I also served as Manager of Structural Dynamics, Acoustics, and Advanced Design teams and for over ten years held designations as DER/AR/UM with approval authority in the Structural Design area, with focus in external loads. I have served as a faculty member at San José State University since 2010, teaching the Aircraft Design capstone course for undergraduate and graduate students. In this role, I have had the privilege to advise top ranking AIAA “Design, Build, Fly” Teams with multiple wins and trophy placements.I have remained engaged in the Aerospace community, serving as a member of the Aerospace Flutter and Dynamics Council, currently in the role of Chairperson, and San José State University’s Aerospace Engineering Advisory Board. I am also an industry representative to the International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations for aircraft noise and emissions and have been an active contributor as a loads and flutter subject matter expert to international rulemaking and harmonization committees in the areas of flight controls and flight test standards.
