About Jordan Hughes

As a Software Engineer and Architect, specializing in business process automation and improvement, I analyze, design, and improve complex, distributed data processing systems. My work incorporates decades of research in Cognitive Neuroscience and Complex Adaptive Systems. Information is an essential aspect of the business process ecosystems that permeate every enterprise, encompassing both technological and cultural capabilities of the organization. I combine my deep experience in software development and architecture with an enduring passion for neuroscience, epistemology, artificial intelligence, and ethics. Research in these areas was central to my graduate studies in Cognitive Science and Philosophy at the University of California, San Diego and continues to motivate my interests in Artificial Intelligence and organization development. Information is at the heart of all human endeavor and is the fuel that powers all thought and action. Understanding and improving the dynamics of information processing, both in natural and in artificial systems at all scales, is the central passion of my life. The heart of that passion is my commitment to doing what I can to make this world a better place, both in the short-term and in the very long term. Humans can imagine alternative courses of action and choose among options. How do we imagine? How do we decide? How do we know? These questions contribute to a large-scale, complex, information-processing project that I call \"the plan.\" If human beings can imagine and create a vehicle for exploring Mars, we can also put our global intelligence together towards creating a world that will be much, much better than it is now - especially if we intelligently plan to flourish over the next years. The beginning of any plan is to imagine. Can you imagine humanity thriving in years? If not, why not? We can only start if we believe it is possible. How do *you* imagine our world in years?
