ABOUT GOKI K.
I never went to junior high or high school. I was a dancer before I ever stepped into a corporate role. I didn\'t start my first one until my late 20s. Most career advice assumes you\'re climbing a ladder. My career has looked like a zigzag — tax technology at EY, international expansion at Amazon, building a 3,400-person learning community nobody asked me to build, and now Voice AI at Zendesk. Every move made sense eventually. Almost none of them made sense at the time. I write about that gap — the career decisions that only reveal their logic in hindsight. The lateral moves, the bets that looked sideways, the things I learned by doing work that wasn\'t in my job description. If you\'ve ever made a career choice that was hard to explain to other people, you\'ll probably recognise yourself in what I write. By day, I\'m a Product Manager at Zendesk working on Voice AI — building the next generation of AI-powered customer conversations. Before that, I spent 7+ years at Amazon, where I helped launch and scale products like Rufus (Amazon\'s generative AI shopping assistant) and Alexa Shopping across global markets. At EY, I built a tax technology service line from scratch using machine learning and automation. I also teach — I\'m a Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College London, where I work with AI Ventures students on taking AI products from idea to production. What you\'ll find here: honest writing about career decisions, AI product building, and what it actually takes to grow when the path isn\'t obvious. → Follow for the posts→ DM me if you want to talk about Voice AI, career moves, or getting into product management
