As a Product Designer - Cell Design at GODI India, I specialize in designing and prototyping lithium-ion cells, focusing on 21700, 4680, 60138, tabless Li-ion cells, and supercapacitors for production. My role bridges mechanical design, process optimization, and material selection to develop cutting-edge battery technology.Key Responsibilities: Cell Design & Prototyping – Designed and fabricated cylindrical and prismatic cells, ensuring optimal electrode and jellyroll structure with precise tab placement for enhanced performance. Manufacturing & Process Development – Engineered new dry coating and wet coating techniques, improving cost efficiency and scalability from kWh to 100 MWh-scale production plants. Material Selection & Cell Safety – Evaluated cell chemistry, electrolyte formulations, and safety standards to enhance battery reliability and longevity. Teardown Analysis & Benchmarking – Conducted competitor teardown reports to implement best-in-class design innovations. Equipment & Process Flow – Designed custom R&D equipment, optimized production layouts, and integrated laser welding, spot welding, and ultrasonic welding in cell assembly. Cross-functional Collaboration – Worked with scientists, business development teams, and marketing teams to select suitable cell form factors for customers, ensuring battery pack fitment and performance optimization. Patents & Innovation – Secured 5+ patents and contributed to multiple cell design filings, pushing the boundaries of battery technology.With a passion for innovation and sustainable energy solutions, I continue to explore advancements in cell design, materials, and manufacturing techniques to drive the future of energy storage.
