ABOUT GENE MOO LEE
Gene Moo Lee is an Associate Professor (with tenure) of Information Systems at UBC Sauder School of Business. His research in AI and Business Analytics has been published in MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of MIS (JMIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Cybersecurity. His research has been supported by 25+ grants (e.g, U.S. National Science Foundation, Canada SSHRC four times) for $1.5+ million. He is currently a Department Editor of Decision Sciences Journal, an AE of ISR, and SE of DSS, and has served other editorial roles, including ISR (ERB), MISQ (Guest AE twice), JMIS (Guest AE), DSS (AE), and Production and Operations Management (Guest SE). He received the 2019 AIS Early Career Award and the Reviewer of the 2021 Year Award from both MISQ and ISR. He received a Ph.D. and M.A. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Korea University.He worked for Samsung Electronics, Intel, AT & T, Narus, and Goldman Sachs. He has collaborated with many tech firms (e.g, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai/Kia Motor, Yahoo, IGAWorks, KISTI, Canada Energy Regulator) and holds 11 patents in mobile technology. He is the Director of the Data+AI Research Group at UBC Sauder. He is also part of Andy’s Army.
