I want to reimagine how we do care through intersectional, cross-movement solidarity and abolition.My name is Glorious, and I am passionate about promoting bodymind resilience and advancing health equity in QT/BIPOC and MMIND* communities.(*Mad, mentally ill, neurodivergent, and disabled.)After graduating with a liberal arts (STEM and fine arts) bachelor\'s degree in Architecture from Wellesley College, I began working as a mental health specialist at McLean Hospital during the pandemic. This led to my interest in psychiatric abolition and public mental health. I also volunteered as a data coordinator for Americorps VISTA at Austin Public Health, and I have experience in mutual aid, peer support, DEI topics, and advocacy work. I am driven by curiosity and empathy to create more equitable outcomes through healthcare, design, and grassroots networks.Currently, I am earning my MPH and MBA at Johns Hopkins University. I look forward to learning more about topics such as the business of health and public mental health through my coursework. During my graduate education, I am seeking summer internships and opportunities in mental health and increasing access to care.The frameworks that I reference for my work, such as those of disability justice, body liberation, food sovereignty, abolition, harm reduction, and more are credited to the brilliant queer, trans, disabled, fat, BIPOC, working class, and MMIND activists who started these conversations long before I benefited from their liberating work. I recognize the value of lived experience and centering historically marginalized contributions, and seek to use my academic privilege to decolonize the fields of public health and mental health. More specifically, I have an interest in amplifying the issue of eating disorders as a public health and social justice priority, and breaking the issue out of its clinical psychology silo.Finally, my affiliated institution occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Piscataway and Susquehannock peoples. I offer reverence and gratitude to these original stewards of this land and their descendants. I ask for their permission to be a guest on this land, to be in right relationship with the land, and to be in active movement towards rematriation of the land back to its indigenous communities.
