About Gloria Bobbie
I am a cultural anthropologist, and teach multiple classes at SUNY Plattsburgh. For 25 years I have researched the effect on the lives of people of the culture of capitalism with a focus on the relationships between consumers, laborers, capitalists and the nation-state; migration, poverty, the environment, health (with a focus on the medicalization of health and healthcare), indigenous populations and protest. The Global Issues course in which my research is shared with students is taught online and was the basis of a Chancellor\'s award for excellence in teaching. I will be releasing the course in 2022 as an OER course in SUNY OER as well as Merlot and OER Commons.
